An ancient city in Kurunegala District which has functioned as a capital of Sri Lanka for a very brief period. King Parakramabahu I set up his temporary capital in this city during the 12th century.

Itinerary

  • In the morning you will make an easy drive towards the northern part of the country up to chilaw where you will be able to see the traditional fishing and fishing villages in the north western part of the country.
  • The next place will be the Munneswaram Hindu Temple which is regarded as one of the five ancient temples dedicated to Shiva.
  • Then you will proceed the journey to Panduwasnuwara, the ancient capital where you will see the ruins of the ancient buildings spread over an area of 20 hectares.
  • Next destination will be Yapahuwa which was one of the ephemeral capitals of medieval Sri Lanka. 
  • In the evening you will return to Negombo with remarkable memories.
